| How the “Pay-Per-Article” service works |
Where a publication takes up the story and runs it we charge you £250 – up to a maximum of £750 per month. Beyond that there is no charge. So if five magazines run a story, you are charged £750 – which is the same as if eight publications ran the piece.
Where the article appears in the press you will receive a copy of the piece as it appeared.
What’s included and what’s not…
The following items are charged at £250 each up to a maximum of £750 per press release issued.
- Articles of over 50 words that relate to your company and which appear as a direct or indirect result of our activity, providing they mention the company name in a way that is identifiable to the ordinary reader. This includes articles in national, regional and local papers, and magazines.
- Articles specifically written for a magazine by Hamilton House which mention the company in a way that is identifiable to the ordinary reader.
- News and magazine items on local, national, satellite or cable TV which appear as a result of Hamilton House activity and which mention the company name or give the company’s phone number or website.
- Articles which appear in regular subscription-based newsletters or news services to teachers (with a maximum in this category of one per month). This includes both print and email news services but not blogs.
What we don’t charge for (even when they appear as a result of our activity)
- Articles that appear on websites or blogs. (Many newspapers and magazines reprint some of their articles on their own websites, while other websites and blogs reprint articles from newspapers and magazines with or without permission.)
- Repeats of items on radio or television. (For example, when Radio 4 ran a programme about a special need with which one of our clients was involved, our client’s company name was mentioned. The programme was repeated in the same week, and then re-run when the whole series was repeated six months later. The client is only charged on the first time around. Likewise a short interview for a news broadcast on BBC Radio 5 which mentioned the client’s details was run five times in news items during one day. We only charged once).
- Articles that appear without your name or website or at least one other identifying details which links you to the piece in a way that the reader or listener can understand at once.
- Articles in or on overseas media not normally available in the UK (unless specifically requested).
- Directory style listings.
- Articles and broadcasts which appear directly as a result of your work and in which Hamilton House has no involvement.
Background notes
- Where a magazine asks for an article to appear we will re-write the press release to meet that request at no cost.
- All press releases written become your copyright and can be used in further publicity and displayed on your website.
- At your request we can also write articles for use in your catalogue and/or on your internet site so that anyone coming across you will already know the name and your standing. The charge is £200 per item.
- We can advise on utilising the publicity surrounding trade shows and exhibitions in order to maximise awareness of your work at no cost. We will also ensure that your publicity material is available for visitors to the show through the press room at no cost.
- Generating information on your competitors' activities.
- Researching the market for your product, establishing teachers’ views of your product or service and that of your rivals, using questionnaires/surveys etc. Cost - £200 per survey.
- Press cutting service to provide you with a record of every mention of your company in both the local and national press. No additional charge.
